Dear God,

Even the most closed-off soul opens when we gather to sing your song.  Sometimes we come together with weary and worn bodies and minds.  Some of us harbor resentment and bitterness.  There are those whose hearts have been hardened by life events.  We come together with our humanity in our hands.  We want the power of your spirit to soften our hearts and feed us the food of heaven.

When we open our mouths to sing or at least open our ears to hear your song, we discover hope awaiting us.  We find love in the lyrics, melodies, and harmonies.  We drink in your mercy like dry, thirsty souls in a barren desert.  We suddenly begin to breathe again filling our lungs with the fresh air of your presence.  Before long we feel alive again because faith has buoyed us up.  There is nothing more powerful than eternity's song to revive the human spirit.

Sing it over again,
dear God,
sing us
the song
of faith.
When we
are low,
cause our faces
to look up.
Show us
the way
to the well
of living water.
Inspire us
to drink
so we
may be full
of grace
once again.
Thank you
for caring
for your own.

Love, Andrea
