Dear God,

So often we fail to see through spirit eyes.  We simply view life on the surface.  We neglect to look deeper to gaze upon your living presence.

I knew she was coming to visit.  A sister who battles with mental illness comes yearly to visit her family.  When she stood to sing, I only heard the melodic sound of heaven.  I was astounded.

The lesson I learned from you is this:  Always look deeper to find what more there is!  When we only look at life from the surface, we miss the real treasure that lay beneath that thin layer.

Every day you challenge us to take a deeper look around us.  You cry out to us:  "Look!  Look!  Look for more!"  When we explore a little, we discover intricate designs of your creative spirit.  We notice possibilities which lead to hope.  We hear your voice whispering new truths.  As all this comes to pass, we feel an upsurge of joy, heaven's joy that warms our soul, opens our eyes, and gives us a new song to sing.

When Barbara opened her mouth to sing at church, all I could hear was your song!

Teach me
to dig deep
into the soil
of your grace.
Open my eyes
to see
what you see.
Open my ears
to hear
what you hear.
Open my mouth
to express
my joyous thanksgiving.
Thank you,
Wondrous God,
for the gift
of life lessons.

Love always, Andrea
