Dear God,
What blessing it is to be in the company of grandchildren! Since the day they were born we have built a relationship that can only come when we entrust it to you. You gave us love and then allowed it to grow over time.
Five of my grandchildren joined me at our home for our annual Advent weekend, a once-a-year gathering where we sleep in sleeping bags, watch Christmas movies, do crafts, work on a mission project, have floor picnics, worship together, go to our favorite restaurant Bob Evans, slide down the steps in sleeping bags, pray together, and play together. It is a blessing to everyone of us.
So many times during the weekend one grandchild and then another would come up to me, wrap their arms around me, hug me real big, and tell me they love me. They would smile, say something about the weekend, and then run off to play. During those moments I would express my gratitude to you for the many gifts we share. I could sense our love growing and growing.
I realize the best gifts in life always come from you. As we open our eyes, you reveal blessing after blessing but the best blessing of all is when we take hands and pray together at the meal table. Each child takes a turn to pray giving you thanks for our time together.
Blessed God,
thank you
for revealing yourself
in a myriad
of ways.
Thank you
for blessing us
with your love.
Thank you
for sharing time
with us.
We are thankful.
Love, Andrea
