My dearest God,

A red cardinal flying across the white backdrop of a snowy winter landscape gave me pause to remember your many gifts at Christmas, not just on December 25 but weeks before and after.  My sister Debi's unexpected visit, a Christian-Muslim memorial service for a fallen humanitarian, a golden angel atop the church Christmas tree, Betty J, a surprise visitor at the Christmas Eve service, a covenant group dinner and sharing spiritual miracles around the dining room table, a three-day visit with Jan, my dear sister in Christ, the Christmas cantata, Jesus and his father Joseph, angels before the Christ, the home-made paper manger scene, a gift from Lucy, Stella, and Rylan, my grandson Ryan and his baby girl Cali cooing in the chair, sacred murmurings of the Holy One, the lighted Christmas tree in the early morning hours, outdoor Christmas lights on the front porch, mass at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church, the Christmas story, the beautiful brown-haired angel in the blue and silver dress with silver wings on my altar, the open bible, and the nativity scene inside the nave at the St. Benedictine monastery.  So many gifts, so very many gifts.

Holy and Wonderful God,
thank you
for awing me
with your grace.
Thank you
for signs
and sounds
of your
lovely spirit.
Thank you
for the
Christmas telling
one more time.

Love, Andrea
