Sunday, January 4, 2015

Dear God,

The new day awaits, the first Sunday in January, the day of worship, Holy Communion, time to set my internal clock to your time, wash my clothes in the river of faith, and make ready to meet the father of creation.  I have time and permission to set aside my fears, confess my sins, and open my soul to the workings of your living spirit.  In three hours I will enter the holy of holies, greet my brothers and sisters in faith, sing praises to you, pray prayers of thanksgiving, listen to your word, eat and drink from your table, strengthen my faith, breathe in your hope and peace, and then go out to bless the world with your light.

All these are gifts of your spirit.  Why would anyone sing praise unless they knew you?  Why would anyone want to eat and drink from a stranger's table? Why would anyone breathe in your hope and peace unless they knew the author of such mystical offerings?

Thank you for the weekly practice of worship and the gathering of the saints with seekers like myself.

You are worthy
of our adoration,
Most High God.
Thank you
for the
mystical movement
of your spirit.
Thank you
for worship,
a time
like no other.
May we
bless you today.

Love, Andrea
