Dear God,

Imagine the light close to your heart; let it warm your soul filling every crack and crevice of your body.  Breathe in the light until it fills you so every breath out will be a breath of light.  On this last day of the old year our covenant group breathed in, one of us in Springfield, Illinois, one in Ridgeville, Indiana, and two of us in a car in the parking lot of the monastery.  During our devotion in our conference call you warmed our souls allowing the light to invade every dark corner until the overfilling spread from us to the world around us.

Your desire to dwell as the light in every person on the planet fills us with joy.  We can look at the light.  We can gaze for hours in the light.  We can crawl into the light, dance, and play in the light.  But the light itself is always flamed by your hand.  When that light dwells within us, we are indeed warmed to the DNA cell.

What do we have if we do not have the indwelling of light?  A soul is dark without light.  A body is not fully well and functioning without the light.  A mind cannot work without light.  When the light comes on, when it comes inside, when it shines and radiates its glow, we come alive, like the dead rising from its grave.

As we considered the light and how it has shined in our lives this last year, we paused, gave thanks, and sang, "Star of wonder, star of night, star with royal beauty bright, westward leading, still proceeding guide us to thy perfect light."

Holy Light of Heaven,
what blessing
you give us
when you allow
your light
to invade
and pervade
our souls.
Thank you
for warmth
in the cold,
for light
in the dark,
for hope
in fear.

Love always, Andrea
