Dear God,
There is something wild and wonderful about worship. We step inside, take a seat in the sanctuary, and pray a little prayer. During the next hour your living spirit invades our soul, warms our heart, and deepens our spirit. Sometimes you change our grumpy disposition or at least shift our thinking. At times you melt the hardness of our heart and grant us forgiveness. Almost always your mercy is at work giving release, adding relief to weary souls. By the time we stand up to leave, we discover we have less of something that holds us down and more of something that lifts us up.
Mystical moments of worship remind us you are a living God not just someone who lived in the past and did good deeds. They reveal your desire to touch us right where we are. They teach us to stretch beyond where we are so we can walk into the future with faith alive and living. They give us cause to pause, to count our blessings, and give thanks. All in all, they change us in some small or large way and wonder of wonders, they bring glory into our space where everything looks just a bit different because we have settled with you for an hour.
Blessed be your name,
O Lord.
Thank you
for reflective moments
of worship.
Make us worthy
of your kindness
so we
can praise you,
live faith-filled lives,
and reach out
to our neighbor
with love,
mercy, and service.
Love always, Andrea
