Dear God,

Faith and a love of music can lift our spirits like nothing else.  We found that to be so true as four of our favorite musicians came for dinner.  All committed to you, all living their faith, and all challenging others to reach the heights, they inspire us to take a step higher in daily living.

That is what you do for us.  You stretch us in all areas of our lives.  You do not leave us in a muddle rather you prod and nudge us to see light in the darkness, to climb out of life's muddy ruts, and to move forward in faith.  You speak life to us through others.  You remind us to care for one another not only making us feel better but challenging us to be better.

During the evening meal we could have sung the doxology and now that I think about it, I wish we had.  As I consider what we received for five hours of remembering, laughing, and sharing, I realize that prized time was a doxology.  "Praise God for whom all blessings flow.  Praise Him all creatures here below. Praise him above ye heavenly host.  Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost."

You send people

You cause us
to see
the blessings
in life.
You teach us
to give praise
and be thankful.
You are God;
there is none
like you.
