Dear God,
Prayer brings people together. When we long for someone who is far away, physically or emotionally, we pray and they are right there with us. If we have concerns for human rights and people who are suffering, we pray and mysteriously we are brought together before you. If we are troubled about anything and feel alone, we pray and we sense your presence right where we are. Either we are transported to you or you come to us. It makes no difference. Prayer brings people together.
One of the valuable lessons you have taught me is about prayer. When I am separated from someone by conflict or rejection, you tell me not to walk away but to pray. If I am hurt by someone or I am angry about something, you tell me to pray for that person by name. You ask me to keep praying for them. Daily, weekly, monthly praying for persons causes a change in me. At first it is hard to say their name but through prayer you soften my heart and my voice. It becomes easier and easier to pray.
The more we come together with you, the more change that can be wrought. The more we stand with you, the better life can become. The more we trust you and follow your will, more peace and hope will come. The more we experience your peace because of our growing relationship, the greater our joy.
Holy God,
giver of hope and peace,
thank you
for lessons
in prayer.
Thank you
for connecting us
to you
and others.
Thank you
for love
that links
the whole world.
Love always, Andrea
