Dear God,
Long ago we were estranged from one another. We could not find a common road. We traveled our own paths never straying close to one another. Sorrow, grief, resentment, anger, and frustration were our constant companions. One day thirteen years later it was finally over. Sorrow and grief gave way to hope, peace, and joy. There were many reasons to be separate from one another, none of them any good. The reasons for being together seemed many more, all of them positive and life-giving.
Tomorrow my daughter and her family will arrive to spend several days with us. Who would have thought it possible? We will dine together, pray together, laugh together, travel together, and play together. All this is made possible by you, my Lord, by you.
My joy
is full
when I think
of your work
of our behalf.
We could not find
our way back
on our own.
You did it,
Lord,
you did it
and my heart
is full
of thanksgiving.
Love, Andrea
