Dear God,

This morning as I stepped out of bed and walked to the window, the night sky pitch black, I gazed at the diamond-studded stars twinkle.  The light against the darkness reminded me of you and the psalmist who wrote, "When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars that you have established, what are human beings that you are mindful of them, mortals that you care for them?"

Deliberately walking through the dark house, I went to different windows just to look up, to gaze, and to reflect upon you and faith.  I picked up my bible and read Psalm 8 and then Hebrews 11 about the meaning of faith.  Faith that reminds us how the light always shines in the darkness.  Faith that lifts our eyes and hearts toward you.  Faith that teaches us to trust and walk in the light.

What gifts are ours when we yearn to discover you early in the morning!

Wondrous God,
draw us close,
keep us close,
I pray.
Direct us
to the ways
of faith
that reveal
the works
of your hands.
Teach us
to pause,
count blessings,
and give praise
even early
in the morning.

Love always, Andrea
