Dear God,

With open eyes we can see you daily.  We can connect with your spirit, fill up with joy, and walk in faith.  Almost anything, anyone can lead us to you.

I watched a three-hour movie and the one line that struck and stuck with me is this:  "I sing you to me."  The young Aborigine's words to his adoptive mother when he left for his "walkabout", the process of becoming a man in the outback of Australia, inspired me to think of the way you sing us to you.  Your call is like a song, a beautiful invitation to draw near.

Your drawing power is great, O God; your call is like none other.  You know time spent with you is an opportunity to draw courage, strength, wisdom, determination, and hope.  We can find love at your feet, grace too.  We can find our way if we are lost.  We can find faith if we are fearful.  We can find peace if we are unsettled, restless, and in chaos or conflict.

In this new year, O Lord, may we come when you sing us to you!
