Dear God,
This is what you do for us: You open us to your spirit. You fill us with anticipation. You put a song in our heart. You give us people to bless. You spread your love to those around us.
This morning at 5:20 a.m. I drove to Meijer's, a 20 minute drive, to pick up some special items for Christmas. Just moments after driving my car out of the driveway, I was rocking in my car to the song "Jingle Bell Rock". I sang every Christmas song that came on the radio. Inside the store, I offered Christmas greetings to every person within reach. For those who did not celebrate Christmas, I shared the blessing of a wonderful day. As I stepped inside Kroger's a little later, I encouraged a man who was trying to find just the right flowers and then wished him a Merry Christmas. As I carried my packages into the house before the sun rose, I felt full, full of Christmas, full of joy, and full of you.
As I began my work at home setting the tables, putting out dishes, and getting ready to fill photo albums, I realized my experience this morning was much more than just feeling good and spreading good cheer. You filled me up to the brim with faith and that faith spilled out as joy and good will.
Blessed are you,
Good Lord;
thank you
for blessing me
and others
this morning.
Thank you
for faith
that does
remarkable things
to us.
Thank you
for joy
that spills out
to others.
Love, Andrea
