Dear God,

You bring us together.  You show us our common humanity.  You remind us we are all one people.  Once again you tell us we are brother and sister to one another on this planet.

You give us opportunity to be one people.  In the Olympics every nation is one with all others.  We may speak different languages, enjoy unique traditions and cultures, and practice varying religious beliefs but in this one space at this one time we are one among many.  You provide many moments where we may talk, share, and offer peace to one another.

Oh, Lord, to have blessed time with our family, to see them, listen to them, and learn from them.  Such moments can alter the way we think, the way we believe, and the way we live life.  We give a piece of ourselves to others and they do the same.  We walk away acknowledging our relationship to one another.  We are blessed, Lord, we are blessed by you.

Hold us together,
Heavenly Father,
hold us together
so we
may come
to understand
one another better.
Show us
the way
to family.
Lead us
to peace,
I pray.
