Dear God,

Faith binds people together.  When one sees Jesus in another, there is a power that draws us to them and to you.  Although my dear friend and colleague in my covenant group and I did not specifically talk about you on the ride to Springfield, Illinois, there was no doubt that our closeness came about by faith.

Susan and I met in seminary.  As single mothers with children, you brought us together in classes, in outside spiritual direction events, and to picnic tables where we ate our home packed lunches because we could not afford to eat out.  There was something unique about her devotion to you that inspired me to dig deeper in my faith.

Through these many decades sharing our faith and challenges, we have continually walked closer to you.  We have desired more of you and your will.  We have sought for help in the many struggles we have both faced.  The single greatest gift either of us have received is faith and we are exceedingly grateful.
