Dear God,

Reading from St. John's account of the resurrection, I wonder if Mary Magdalene would have seen Jesus sooner if she had not been so focused on the removal of the stone from the tomb.  It was only when Jesus called her name, she turned and recognized the Lord.

Oh, how often we get fixed on something and fail to look upon the face of our Lord!  We get distracted by so many things and we forfeit blessed reunions with Christ.  It is only when he calls our name or nudges us do we pause, turn, and witness the God of our faith.

This morning I am grateful Mary did recognize him, did go running to tell her story, and did convince others of the resurrection.  Her faith in you, her love for you, and her desire for the master all began rolling away the stones in all future disciples' lives.  Blessed be the name of Mary Magdalene, a mother to all pilgrims searching for Jesus.

Thank you,
O Holy One,
for the gift
of Mary Magdalene.
Thank you
for her witness
and the way
her story
keeps being told.
Thank you
for rolling away
our stones,
letting in
fresh air,
and calling us out.

Love, Andrea
