Dear God,

"There is a balm in Gilead to make the wounded whole; there is a balm in Gilead to heal the sin-sick soul."  The words to this song provide a wonderful statement of faith particularly to the saddened, the lost, and the weary.  To know there is a balm, a balm of healing, brings comfort in so many ways.

No matter where we are in life, no matter our condition or state, there is a balm.  When we find our self in the middle of a sinful life or our soul is broken, cracked and leaking, there is a balm.  All we need do is cry out to the Holy Comforter who will pour out his healing power upon us.

You have given a promise to be with us always.  In your presence we find sweet mercy and compassion.  We drink in assurance and hope.  We rest in peace knowing your balm will heal with time.

O God,
greater healer
and lover
of humankind,
we come
to you,
pleading for mercy
and compassion.
Your people hurt;
they hurt
so badly.
Pour out
your balm,
O Holy One.
Bring your healing,
we pray.

Love, Andrea
