Dear God,

The evil forces are at work in the work.  They seek to devour, to kill, and to ruin.  Yet, the power of the Almighty is greater.

When we put our trust in any but you, O Lord, we set ourselves up for great difficulty.  The gods of this world will take us where we do not want to go, to every dead end.  At the end there will be nothing to hold us up, to cure our ills, or renew us.

Your power is in your mercy, Beloved God.  Your mercy anoints us like a spring shower bringing with it love from on high, compassionate that leaks into every cracked soul, and joy that can bubble up in the worst of situations because you are with us.  When we have felt your mercy come upon us, we know no greater gift.  Our knees buckle, for we fall to pray in thanksgiving.

Help us
fight evil
with your mercy,
Loving God.
Help us
keep our eyes
on you.
Show us
the way
to you,
we pray.
