Dear God,

How can I speak of beautiful things like the colorful garden outside my study window when I read of more killings in the world?  How can I share my world of being with grandchildren, playing games, and laughing when there is great weeping in other places in the world?  How can I possibly be happy when there is such sorrow elsewhere?

You made us all to be brothers and sisters together.  You made us one family.  You made us to care about each other.  How can I offer stories of my joy when others know only deep pain?

O Lord,
where there
is hatred,
help us
sow love.
Help us
see differently.
Reshape our minds,
our hearts,
and our souls.
Help us
make room
for others,
all others,
I pray.

Love, Andrea
