Dear God,
Surrender, that whole-hearted, quiet release of the soul that opens the door wide for true freedom. There in that sacred space, the divine and human come together, God and I have opportunity to welcome and embrace, dwell and sit, and finally to talk and listen. Surrender, the key to trust, hope and change.
How blessed you make me when I sit with great writers during my devotional time. I sit with Pope Francis, Saint Bernadette, gospel writers, psalmist, Nan Merrill, Henri Nouwen, and Richard Foster every morning as I read their writings. In every case surrender underlines everything they say. Their very lives are based on surrender.
We long for freedom in our souls. Often a tangled mess, we long for ways to untangle, to be set free. When your grace touches us, it as if we become a finely-oiled machine easily unknotting all that keeps us tightly bound. When our knots are freed, we breathe the air of freedom allowing us to gain new perspective, fresh hope, and blessed transformation.
Holy God,
thank you
for your power
that creates miracles
every day.
Thank you
for surrender
that means
we do
not have
to stay
in our
current dilemma.
Thank you
for change
that comes
when we
are willing
to surrender
unto you.
Love always, Andrea
