Dear God,

Sometimes we just have to sing, "When peace like a river attendeth my way, when sorrows like sea billows roll, whatever my lot, thou has taught me to say it is well, it is well with my soul."  If Horatio Spafford could pen these words while grievously mourning the loss of his four daughters in the stormy seas while aboard a ship bound for Europe, then I too need to be able to sing these hopeful words during my own dark storms.

Ominous dark clouds gather over everyone in life.  Storms come.  Lightning strikes.  Rivers overflow their banks. No one is exempt from suffering.  It is how we cling to the life preserver of hope that really counts, that makes a difference, and that ultimately gives evidence of faith in the present.

Holy God,
thank you
for your spirit
at work
in our lives.
Help us
sing your song
even when
the winds roar
and the rain
pours down.
Enable us
to grab
for the
life preserver
who is you,
I pray.

Love, Andrea
