Dear God,

As I stooped over to pull my first beets at Spiller Farm, I thought how there were no fruits or vegetables there last winter.  The area was barren, dead, and fallow.  Nothing existed.  Yet, today the soil was full of luscious, colorful, and huge produce like cabbage, carrots, eggplant, beets, lettuce, and cauliflower just to name a few.

Local farmers are wonderful.  They are ministers, co-creators with you.  They take the tiny seeds you offer and they plant them.  However, without you their seeds are just dead seeds.  You make them grow.  You water them.  You give them the nutrients they need to become delicious food.  You bless them.

As I came home and began preserving for the winter, I thought of your many gifts and counted farmers, farms, seeds, soil, and fresh vegetables as several of them.

Thank you
for your mercy
that feeds us.
Thank you
for your love
that nurtures us.
Thank you
for creation
that blesses us.

Love always, Andrea
