Dear God,
You lead us to pray, O Lord. It is not our idea but yours. When we feel the need or desire to pray, it is because you are whispering to us, awakening our soul.
I used to think prayer was all about me, my idea, my thoughts, and my work. It was only after many humbling times did I come to the realization prayer is more about listening than uttering words. When I quiet myself and pause I give opening to your voice, your thoughts, your desires, your ideas, and your will. When I think more about it, I want this more than anything. I want your leading, your guidance, and your help. I want what you want.
This morning during devotions I listened to Pope Francis and I came to the awareness that prayer is about sending more love into the world. As we utter the world's name, a country, a person, we are letting love lead us. We are allowing you to nudge our heart and inspiring us to love others. And when we pray we are praying with others who are also praying. We are loving the world together. We are lifting each other's name. We are lifting love and you alone know how desperate this world is to be loved.
Teach us
to pray,
O Lord.
Lead us
to love others.
Guide our prayers
so we too
can send love
to the world.
Love always, Andrea
