Dear God,
Why do the days go swiftly by? It seems as if there is no "pause" time when we have time to breathe, to relax, and to live in the present. One day rolls into the next and we miss holy moments.
When I was a child the days slowly crept by. When will we get out of school? When will Christmas finally get here? When can we go to the pool? These questions I asked implied a lack of patience waiting for a special time to finally arrive.
At 70 years of age I want to grab hold of time and slow the process of movement. I want to savor the moment, take in the beauty, and breathe in life-giving air. Perhaps I need to listen to wisdom, "Be still and know I am God."
Holy God,
you hold time
in your hand.
You speak
to us
every moment
of every day.
Forgive me
when I
rally against time.
May I
be patient
and live
in you.
Love, Andrea
