Dear God,
There is no time like a Sunday morning. When friends, family and strangers gather to worship together, you are always present with us. This morning was like that.
Two women clapped when I walked in with a 20 lb. turkey for the food pantry. One woman, a brand new friend looked worn and shared her family sorrow. We hugged and you were in the midst of that hug. As we walked into the area set aside for the sanctuary, Taize music was playing. I closed my eyes and remembered sitting on the floor in the old sanctuary in 1998 at Taize, France with 5000 others singing that same song in four-part harmony. You were there too. As the scripture was read and the story told, we could see you walking among us with 1, 5, and 10 talents. As we blended our voices in praying the Lord's prayer, we were one voice, your voice heard above all the rest. As my daughter sat next to me and put her arm around my shoulder, I wondered if it could get any better.
Although I had to leave right away for a three-hour drive to see a loved one, many others picked up rakes and left to rake several elderly people's yards and others went to the food pantry to decorate for Christmas. Yes, indeed, O Lord, you were there this Sunday morning at Good Samaritan Episcopal Church.
Blessed Lord,
thank you
for your
living presence.
Thank you
for every gift
of your spirit.
Bless you,
Great God,
bless you.
Love, Andrea
