Dear God,

We gather for worship to hear your word for us.  While it may be a word of hope, comfort, peace, joy or love, it is always a word of challenge, an invitation to change something inside.  Perhaps it is a thought, a resentment or an untruth.  Whatever it is, you call us to action.

Maybe you made the church so you could continue to recreate us and make us new.  Maybe your desire was to help us in the process of growth and transformation.  Maybe you just wanted us to be part of a living faith that would always require work so we could rise to higher levels of goodness and service in the world.

All you do is the work of love.  Every day.  Every way.

Generous God,
we are
so unworthy
of all
your gifts;
however, you
give them
to us anyway.
We are grateful
for no one
loves us
the way
you do.
