Dear God,

This morning I listened to Henri Nouwen and Meister Eckhart talk about peace.  As I listened closely I heard your voice speak.  I realized peace can only happen internally if we listen to your voice above all other voices that seek for intention in the human soul.  Only when we route out those other voices wanting attention can we hear the voice of reason and faith and love.

I must confess that I keep an argument going in my soul.  I get irritated, upset and frustrated.  Even though things may be calm for the moment, I continue the debate in my mind.  I keep myself stirred up.  I now understand how I listen to the voices of chaos, division and doubt.  As long as I give them my full attention, I can never attain peace.

O Lord,
holy and wise,
you are
the God
of love
and mercy.
You are
the giver
of peace.
