Dear God,

"This is not living," the man in Walmart said to me.   This morning I arrived at the box store the moment it opened so I would be with as few people as possible because of the pandemic.  But this stranger was trying to find oven roasted turkey instead of the honey variety and he asked me which kind was right for his wife who didn't like sweet-tasting turkey.  That led us into a conversation about the state of our nation right now.

The man's comment triggered my own frustration with our president and his handling of the American people in all our distress right now.  And yet, I knew this was a moment to make hope between strangers.  "Maybe two strangers being kind to one another is a start in changing that."  I said to the man as I moved on.  We smiled at each other and offered good wishes for a happy day.

O God,
we need you
and one another.
We need
to give hope
and peace
and joy
another chance.
Help us,
we pray.

Love, Andrea
