Dearest God,

Is it possible to have a new beginning with a failed old beginning?  Can we really start again?

Sometimes, O Lord, we don't entertain a new beginning because we don't trust it will work or we don't have hope that it is a possibility.  So we don't even try.  We don't take steps to begin a new process of life.  Sadly, we don't trust you and we don't trust ourselves so we do nothing but stay in the muck.

We forget you are the God of new beginnings.  Faith is the resource to move from here to there, to find trust and hope and to change, to transform and be transformed.  You are the power and strength that brings about a possible newness of life.

We don't want to go through this new year with a failing, flailing attitude.  We need a new resolve to trust you, to move with you and to walk forward into the new life that awaits us.  Sometimes it is a small change, sometimes a little more and at times it requires a complete change but so what?  You are our hope, our strength and the power that can make anything possible.

Open us

to a

new future,

O God.

Move in us,

stir in us,

live in us,

I pray.
