Dear God,

When we are confused or in doubt, you whisper to us, "Be still and know that I am God."  So often we operate as if we know it all, we are in charge and we have the power to make whatever we want happen.  I tried all that this morning and what am I now?  Befuddled, irritated and perplexed.  I did not quiet myself in your presence, allow you to calm my soul or speak to me.  What would I expect?

Why are we headstrong, determined and impatient?  Why do we not start with you first?  As people of faith, we know you are the gentle guide, the power of the cosmos and the great helper but still we go it on our own again and again and again.

I hate the way I am when I am not the way you intentionally made me.  I am sorry.

Lead me,

O God.

I am

behind you

not in front.

I need you.
