Dear God,

Whenever I have been troubled and distressed, not knowing what to do, I repeated your words, "You shall know the truth and the truth will set you free."  While I have not always adequately discerned the truth, I returned to your other words that set my heart and mind free.  "Love one another as I have loved you."

Your words remind me I am loved but, in my being loved, I have been challenged to love others that you love.  That means all people, everywhere regardless..."  So when I am angry and want to react in negative ways, I remember that your love frees me.  It holds me.  It warms and accepts me.  It makes me feel safe, wanted and cherished.  There is no situation where I am on my own but rather in your presence who knows my situation better than I know it.

Love always comes first.  Oh, that is not easy especially when I am looking at others who I vehemently disagree with especially politically and emotionally.  At the same time, I realize I am looking into the eyes of one who is loved the same as me.

Teach me
your ways,
O God.
Rid me
of anger,
bitterness and hatred.
Cleanse me
from within.
Make me clean
to stand
before you
and others.
Thank you.

Love, Andrea
