Dear God,

How can we pray for our own if we do not pray for others?  Why would we pray only for our family, neighbors and friends and leave out strangers far and away who are suffering?  What would possess us to pray for ourselves without thinking of others?

Several years ago the Carmelite sisters revealed a much better way.  In every prayer they included the world.  They thought of hurting children, people of different faiths and politicians of every party.  By example they reminded all gathered that we are all part of one family, some we love, some we despise, some who have harmed us, some who have lifted us up and some we sorely disagree with.  It was and is the way of love they showed us.

Show us always
the way
to you
and the world
waiting for us
to pray.
Remind us
of the
eternal connection
we have
with everyone.
Thank you
for all
the prayers prayed
for us
by strangers.

Yours, Andrea
