Dear God,

We are fragile, vulnerable humans.  Everything necessary for sustaining life comes from you.  Oxygen, sunshine and water are needed by all.  Without it we do not exist.  We are totally dependent on you, Creator God.

If only we would live with these beliefs and sing your praises in gratitude!  We operate daily with the notion that we are self-sufficient but we live a lie.  We need you and we need each other.  We forget the miracle of our birth and daily life.  We forget the countless ways you give us daily blessing and we forget how much our neighbor provides us.  We forget you, Merciful God, we forget you.

Daily remind us

of our need

for you

and each other,

Creator God.

Teach us

once again

the wonder

of creation

and the making

of our

own lives.

Teach us gratitude,

we pray.
