Dear God,

It is nice to walk in the shallow water of the ocean when the waves come up and cover our ankles.  However, the real beauty of the ocean lay in the deep, in the mystery, treasure and surprise.  

In the spiritual life it is the same.  The deep calls to us to wade in a little deeper, to discover and find, to wander and wonder and to breathe and embrace.  Yet, we spend most of our life in the shallows because it is easy, fun and cheap.  Hours, days, months and years in the shallows.

But in the deep, ahhh there is something far more special and meaningful.  A whole other world exists in the deep.  While hope, peace and joy reside there so does insight, perspective, creativity, solutions and mind-boggling, infinite possibilities.  Although you are clearly in the shallows, you are more deeply experienced in the depths of life.

with you

into the deep,

O God.

Help us wade

a little deeper.

Lead us

to you.
