Dear God,

Here in Maine we leave our windows open at night.  We listen to the sounds of night and the early morning birdsong.  Who can deny the wonders of creation whether in day or night?

There is something so comforting listening to the night and day speak.  They tell us of sacred rhythms and divine residence.  They can quiet the soul, bring peace to the mind and healing for the body.  It is only in listening that we catch the gentle nuance of the sacred in everyday living.  But more than all this it can transform our ability to reform, renew and restore our wholeness in gratitude, joy and solitude.

Holy God,

thank you

for the gifts

of day

and night.

Thank you

for sharing

secrets of

the cosmos.

You bless us

every day

with invitations

to revive

and revitalize us.
