Dear God,

Only when we are very sick do we know the astonishing wonder of healing!  Day after day when living with good health, we forget the miracle of wellness.  We fail to remember the gift it is to us.  Usually we don't even give daily thanks.

Down with Covid I recognize how quickly we can fall ill to our beds.  When our energy ebbs away, we know our human limitations.  We know alone we do not have the full power for our own healing.  We acknowledge there is something more at work.

As I lay feverish, achy and hacking with a cough, I pray in thanksgiving for every day of good health but also for sickness that teaches new lessons of faith.

Thank you,

Compassionate God,

for your hand

that is

always upon us.

Thank you

for loving us

to health

and wholeness.

The truth is

we need both.
