Dear God,

Yesterday someone said, "No one can take away your joy.  You can only lose it if you give it away."  That resonated with me.  There is a seed of joy within us, one that only you could create and place within the human spirit.  It is always there.  No one can take it away from us.

Right now in our country and world, it seems as though the desire to take away our joy is coming at us from every corner.  Evil, darkness and hatred threaten every day, but we need to remember it is not only our joy that is safely tucked away.  It is your joy, a divine joy greater than our own and we can tap into it at any time.  

Our problem is that we forget the truth and fact that we have what we need not only to survive but thrive.  And that is not the only sacred gem inside us.  Hope and peace reside there as well.  At any time, during any situation, in the light or the darkness, day or night, we can pause, crawl up into the waiting arms of God and feast on your beautiful gifts.

Holy God,

thank you

for daily reminders

of your gifts.

We sorely need

to remember

what is ours.

Lead us

with your light,

we pray.
