Dear God,
Just yesterday I heard someone say, "Grace is always better than bitterness." This afternoon I am still thinking about those few words.
Although I am no expert on the subjects, you have taught me a few things about them. Grace is an opportunity to surrender the hurts and injuries I carry within me. By letting go of the pain and sorrow I feel daily, I am free to step inside your reconciling, renewing, restoring love to find healing. With bitterness, I am able to remember, judge and blame those who have hurt me. I can keep my wall up so that I am not so easily hurt. I can remain angry and hurt for as long as I want. No need for grace if I choose bitterness.
So, today as I reminisce some of my own bitterness, I have the chance to choose once again.
Holy God,
it is
not easy
to let go.
It is
not easy
to forgive.
It is
not easy
to trust you
and heal myself.
At the
same time,
what good
can bitterness
possibly give me?
Yours, Andrea
