My dearest God,

I have come to recognize your call to grow in faith with you. You present situations that teach us life lessons. Those moments can be experienced as crises, difficulties, or special challenges leading to hurt and disappointment or simply as invitations to stretch our beliefs, faith practices and spiritual underpinnings. Such circumstances can become the richest times in our lives.

How often have conditions been ripe for conflict or disagreement leading to doubt and fear? How many incidents occurred where I took offense and found myself wounded or injured in some way? Too many times to count.

However, when I considered my relationship with you and your desire to draw close to me in faith, my, the learnings that came. When I accepted your invitation to leave behind familiar surroundings for unexpected jaunts into the unknown, you took me on whirlwind trips to the divine. What gifts I received. What joy I discovered. What love I felt.

Looking through your lens, life appears differently. Colors take on new hues. Words take on new meanings. The status quo no longer rules the day. In some ways each day provides a wondrous new adventure that at any time can give us the thrill of a lifetime.

As I look back, I can name those events where indeed I accepted your invitation and leapt forward. I can remember how happy I was to commune with you. I was able to put my new learnings into practice. I felt more fulfilled, happy and content and the transformation lead to many more opportunities to grow my joy.

Keep me living
in the realm
of possibilities,
dear God;
show me
the treasure
of learning
life lessons.
Guide me
to you
so that
I might not miss
a chance
to ride
the wave
of infinite promise.
