My dearest God,

On a bitterly cold winter day I stood in the middle of a bridge looking down at a clogged ice floe. Scattered debris had snagged on large fallen limbs, ice had formed and nothing moved. All of a sudden there was a rumble as the river rubble began to shift. I felt frightened as I watched the power of the river rise up breaking the large ice formations and move at quite a clip. As I turned and looked in the opposite direction, the scene was one of peace and tranquility.

That picture came into my mind this morning as I reflected upon the movement that I am witnessing in lives around me. I know a number of persons who've been stuck, including myself. With trapped stuff building up, the natural flow of life slowed way down disabling the normal free-flow of daily activity. Unhealthy patterns, disturbing acquiescence, and fear-driven poor decisions had for a long time driven our lives. Yet when your spirit blew in like a nor'easter gale, a shake-up was destined to change things. And they are, thank God!

Let your power
rattle and roll
in our lives,
O God,
so that
you can
break up
those things
that hinder us
from living
creative, meaningful lives.
Teach us
the way
of trust
that will prohibit
the yucky stuff
of life
from accumulating,
robbing us
of hope, faith
and joy,
I pray.

Love, Andrea
