My dear God,
How I love watching the trees release their leaves into the gentle breeze. How I love their color, their stateliness, and their ability to do what they have been designed to do.
I have discovered answers to my prayers through the trees. In times of personal quandary I have prayed seeking guidance and direction. Often you, O Lord, have turned me to the trees for insight. You have taught me that there are quiet times when roots dig deeper for water and nutrients. You have shown me the value of each season. Through the trees you have revealed the beauty of life and death, growth and no growth, of hanging on and letting go, and of faith and fear. As I sought out the next steps in my own life, you whispered your encouragement through the trees.
In this season of surrender, you bring to my mind the vital significance of abdicating my strong will for your own. Without cutting loose from my personal wants and desires, I limit my chances of growing and becoming, being transformed, finding my way, experiencing new adventures and learning new skills. As I surrender to you allowing your will to lead me, my ability to love you deepens and my desire to follow humbly increases leading me to an incredible well of joy.
Allow me
to drink in
your grace,
Gracious God;
teach me
your ways.
Bend my will
to your own
so I
may become
more pliable
in your hands.
Thank you
for lessons
hidden like treasure
in autumn time.
Love, Andrea
