Dearest God,
Sometimes I feel like I live in a teeny perfect world where all is well. Although my health is tenuous, I still imagine all is good. But this is so flawed. When I allow myself to be captured by the heinous things that people do to destroy others, I am rocked to the core and I wonder what occurs in the human soul to motivate people to do horrific things.
As news broke about a young man killing movie watchers in Colorado, I realized this is but one very sad event in the world where war, greed, famine, piracy, abuse and much more take place. People are harmed every day in some of the most shocking ways. Evil lifts its ugly head seeking to maim and kill the human race.
How do we stop such things, Loving God? How do we cleanse our own souls of ugly debris? How do we change ourselves and begin to regard our neighbors at home and around the globe as your beloved children? How do we heal and mend one another? How do we live in grace accepting the privilege and responsibility of tending to the ills and ails of our societies? How do we live a life worthy of your most holy calling?
Transform us
from the
inside out,
Gracious God.
Only you
can alter
certain things
within us.
We need
your help.
We need
your guidance.
We need
your healing.
We need
your grace.
We need
your love.
We need
your challenge.
Bless,
O Lord,
those who
are hurting
and suffering today,
I pray.
Love, Andrea
