Dear God,
You made it possible for me to watch my body heal. Your creative design put into place an ability for the body to heal itself.
When I was building my raised vegetable bed and it was crooked, I used a rubber mallet to straighten it. Because it was filled with soil, I had to hit it hard. Trouble was my index finger got in the way and I pounded it. Minutes later after I was successful fixing the bed, I pulled off my holey, dirty gloves and blood was streaming down my whole finger. I had not only bruised it but also cut it from the top around and down the side. It bled and bled. Finally, after holding it up, I was able to treat it and go to the doctor. No stitches but a very nasty cut.
As the doctor looked it over and helped clean more dirt from the wound, I watched in amazement as I considered the way the mending process had already begun. The skin would come back together and heal. There may or may not be a scar but it will be made new.
Everything in life points back to you, doesn't it? A wound, a joy, a victory, a miracle, a birth, and even a death can lead us to you. My injury reminded me how central you are in every part of life. As I watched my finger bleed, bruise, and swell and then later begin to mend itself, I thought of you.
Wondrous God,
thank you
for daily reminders
of your presence.
Thank you
for the miracle
of the
human body.
Thank you
for the awareness
of the divine.
Thank you
for healing.
Thank you
for faith
that gives cause
to celebrate.
Love, Andrea
