Dear God,

You have given us the capacity to analyze situations in life.  You have provided us with a mind and reasoning capabilities.  We can take any situation, look at it from all angles, and then draw a conclusion.

Analyzing life from above means we are enabled to see your spirit in every situation.  It may look bleak and despairing, even impossible; however, when we factor in your kindly spirit power, we see more than before.  We may find hope or peace or even courage or strength that can help us as we ride out the storm.  Analyzing life from below simply means we see what we see and find no answer, no solution, no guidance, no help, no resolve, no peace.  We gain nothing more than a negative attitude that perpetuates unhealthy responses to life.  But life from above gives us so much more, a positive outlook in the midst of difficulty that keeps our spirits up and our eyes upon you.

As I consider the many trials I have faced like disease, estrangement, rejection, betrayal, and loss, to name a few, I look back and remember my greatest moments of triumph have been during those times when I looked to you for help, when I studied my situation and found you waiting, and I trusted in your divine sustenance and mercy.  Yes, you have given us the ability to analyze and with you in our lives we see so much, much more.

for mercy
that awakens us
each morning
and compassion
that puts us
to bed
each night.
Thank you
for love
that stirs
in us
all day long
and for challenge
that keeps us
growing in faith
and every
other way.
Keep us positive
in our outlook
so we
can give you
our very best.
