Dear God,

For years I prayed for special times of conversation with my husband, not just a minute here or two or three during commercials on television.  I longed for discussions about anything as a way of getting to know more about this man of mine of 27 years.  Our long visit at breakfast today reminded me of my prayers and your goodness.

One thing I have come to realize is how you challenge us in our yearnings.  You remind us to stay close to you, to trust you, and to grow our faith.  You show us how to sweeten our relationship with you.  When we rely more and more on you, we discover we are no longer lonely.  You hold us like a mother holds her newborn.  You whisper your love to us giving us a more firm foundation and an ability to grow more self confident.  You give us courage, strength, self love, and a well of compassion.  While we wait, you make us new.

Thank you,
dear Lord,
for helping us
become more
like your children.
Thank you
for guiding us
toward self awareness
and trust
in you.
Thank you
for answering
our prayers
and taking
the intervening time
to teach us
a thing
or two.
Thank you
for your grace
which is life's
greatest gift.

Love, Andrea
