Dear God,
I love the way you push us to the edge in our thinking and our living. You remind us to take risks, to grow, to contribute, and to make the world a better place in which to live. You do not wish us to become dull, stagnant, and lifeless. The antidote to such a life is a living relationship with you.
Sometimes I take life for granted. I take in the gifts of daily life but I become sedate, content with the way life is. I don't like when my little world becomes too ruffled; therefore, I don't do much to change it. But then you sweep into my life like a Nor'easter wind reminding me that life is about more than myself and my way of being. You challenge me to rise up from where I am to see more and to operate from a place of faith. You ask me to step into a spirit world where insight, adventure, and ideas live. You show me what I can do to bring faith into realms where people are enabled to see steps before them leading them to greater levels of human living, where hope and joy live, where strength and resolve are available, and where peace is possible.
Today as I listened to the words of Abraham Lincoln and Nelson Mandela, I realized once again my responsibility to be a tireless worker of freedom for all. I need to lift up my neighbor next door and around the world. I need to connect in ways that give life to others, otherwise, there is no freedom for anyone.
May it be so, dear Lord.
Thank you,
Gracious God,
for your
gentle and
not-so-gentle nudges.
Teach me
again and again
my part
in the
human network.
Lead me
to bring wholeness
just as
you bring wholeness
to me.
Break down
the barriers
that exist
between us.
Push and prod,
O God,
for your way
is best.
Love, Andrea
