Dear God,
Always on the watch for your living presence in the world, I smiled early this morning, awed by the rising sun peeking just above the horizon. As it hit my windshield, a light ray arced, inverted, and came right to my eye. Even though I moved my head side to side, the light stayed with me and I thought that is just the way you are. You bring your light to us and no matter which way we turn you stay with us.
When we are afraid, lonely, confused, or disoriented, we sometimes think your light has escaped us. We call out your name as if to say you are gone from us. The darkness seems to creep in. We can feel abandoned. Yet, this morning's light exercise reminded me of your tenacity, your determination to stay with each of us. The light was not intended just for me; I was not singly selected for a special favor. Your light shines on every creature. We are all loved and presented with your light.
As I consider this morning's lesson, I am blessed and grateful.
O Lord,
creator of the cosmos,
thank you
for your light,
for your lessons,
for your love.
How could we
ever forget you?
Love, Andrea
