Dear God,

I guess we make mistakes so we can hone our skills in humility, confession, and forgiveness. As we do, we meet the fire of purification to burn away that which is not good within ourselves.

A few weeks ago my husband and I were hurt by two people.  Our hearts were sad and disappointed.  We felt humiliation, embarrassment, and loss.  After feeling sad, I felt angry. Yet, you came to me asking me to be prayerful, to consider the situation, and to reflect upon the way and the time to openly share without a resentful spirit.  You reminded me it is never wrong to do the right thing.  When the appropriate time came, you asked us to forgive and we did.

Last week the shoe was on the other foot.  We hurt someone else, thus the time to take responsibility and meet the fire.

When I evaluate life and its many lessons, I take heart in the fact you are in the business of reworking human souls, cleansing hearts, and making things right if we listen and take part in your plan.  Although I find it painful to be on either end, I know your will is being played out and I am grateful.

Gracious God,
Hope of the World,
thank you
for lessons
that teach us
your plan.
Show us
the way.
Guide us
to the well
of goodness.
Help us drink
so we
can live lives
worthy of
your love.

Always, Andrea
