Dear God,

You want to truly prepare us for the Christ event, don't you?  You want to purify our hearts, rid our souls of darkness, clear the clutter, and fill us with anticipation, hope, and expectation.  You want to renew our hearts, reconcile all our estrangements, and restore us to newness of life.  You want to transform us so we may fully enter into the event of the ages.

Every year you work on us.  You give us opportunity to change ourselves, to release all that holds us back from a full, valuable, and meaningful life.  You whisper your merciful love to us, offering us gifts and blessings that we simply are unable to receive when we are so full of everything else.  You shine your light on us enabling us to see ourselves as we are but then you give us hope and courage to rise up, to surrender all the unnecessary crud that exists within us, and to grab hold of what you want to birth inside our souls.  Every year you bless us with divine chances at a better life.

Holy God,
always at work
with the
human spirit,
teach us
to trust you more.
Show us
the way.
Guide us
to your side.
Reveal yourself
to us.
Make us ready
for Christmas.
Make us ready
for your light.
Make us ready
for you,
