Dearest God,

I love Christmas lights that literally light up the scene around them.  Blue, green, red, purple, and white twinkle giving an aura of aliveness, beauty, and peace.  But more than that they sound off a resounding message of Christmas, Christ, love, and joy.  They ask, "Have you heard, have you seen the Christ?"  I stare in wonderment wanting the whole world to be filled with joy and peace.

Christmas lights give way to THE light, the light of a savior, a teacher, a comforter, and a friend.  They point the way revealing how the light dispels the darkness, any darkness, our own or those of strangers around the world.  I believe the light shines for all of us not some of us, the most pious to the most evil.  That is what is so very special about you, my God; you do not exclude anyone even if they do not believe in you.

As I drive through the neighborhoods fixing my eyes on every lighted home, I am drawn to you.

Holy God,
bless you Lord
for your
many gifts.
Thank you
for the season
of Advent,
the season
of light.
Thank you
for peace
that can come
as we
turn our eyes
toward you.
Let your
light shine;
shine it
through me,
I pray.

Love, Andrea
